NCTOA TRAINING EVENTS

2012 NCTOA Symposium, location is the Holiday Inn at 2805 Highwoods Blvd in Raleigh NC.  Dates are April 30th and May 1st of 2012. Early registration is the evening of April 29th.  Rooms are blocked at a $64.00 rate under the name of 'NCTOA SWAT Symposium'.  You can use the following link to reserve your room online.  The hotel has blocked the entire top floor for us to include a hospitality room for networking.  AGENDA LISTED BELOW.....

                It is time for the second annual NCTOA SWAT Symposium.  You will find the agenda attached with details of who is speaking and when they will be speaking.  Wake Tech Community College will be on site to register each person for certificates which will count towards SWAT In Service training.  We have some great speakers coming this year and are excited about the topics being covered.
 
 Call-Out dinner topics…..
John Taylor, Roanoke Rapids Police, North Carolina, will be debriefing his shooting.        
Sgt. Kimberly Munley, Retired Dept. of the Army Federal Police, will be debriefing the Fort Hood Texas shooting.
 
Location:              2805 Highwoods Blvd in Raleigh NC.
Date:                     April 30th and May 1st with early registration on the night of April 29th.
Registration process:      Send an Email to Robert McLaughlin at rmclaug7@nccu.edu and include your name and t shirt size.
Registration cutoff date:              April 20th, 2012 
Price:                     $60.00 for members and $85.00 for nonmembers.
Rooms:                 If needed, are $64.00 per night if you use the words “2012 NCTOA SWAT Symposium” when booked.
 
Vendors will be on site with ample time for you to visit them throughout the event.  Different armored vehicles will be on site for viewing.  SBI and FBI SWAT will be present for questions and equipment concerns.  You will receive a special symposium t shirt at check in so please advise you shirt size when you register. 
 
Breakfast will be served the first morning and a continental breakfast will be served the second morning.  The call out dinner will consist of finger foods such as wings, shrimp, and chicken fingers.
 
We will have a hospitality room on the top floor with complimentary drinks and space for networking with other teams during off hours.  The entire top floor has been blocked for this event so get your room early.  The $64.00 room fee is special for our event so make sure you get this price when you book your room. 
 
This is a great time for our NC SWAT Operators to relax, come together for quality networking, and hear some great speakers from across the country.  Please join us for your 2012 SWAT Symposium.

 2012 Guilford County Sniper Competition on April 27th and 28th.  Read below for details.

 

The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office Is Hosting its 7th Annual Sniper Challenge
 
The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office invites you to the seventh annual Emergency Response Team Sniper Competition. This event will identify the best of the best from across the state and country. The friendly competition will take place at the Guilford County Sheriff’s range located at 3050 County Farm Road in Gibsonville, NC 27249. There will be vendors, prizes, surprises, and some of the toughest competition around. 
This event is set for Friday/Saturday, April 27th & 28th, 2012. The event will be open to the first 25 two-man sniper teams to place their skill and reputation on the line. Each sniper team and individual sniper will be shooting for first, second or third place. The first place sniper team will take a traveling trophy home to their department to be brought back to the competition next year.
Each sniper must provide their own sniper rifle & duty handgun (agency issue).
Ammo requirements:
-          100 rounds of quality sniper ammo ***NOARMOR PIERCING, GREEN TIP OR STEEL CORE AMMO***
-          100 rounds of 5.56 or .223 ammo ***NOARMOR PIERCING, GREEN TIP OR STEEL CORE AMMO*** (AR-15 will be provided)
-          100 rounds of quality handgun ball ammo
-          50 rounds of frangible handgun ammo
-          25 rounds of 12ga #8 bird shot ***LEAD ONLY, NO STEEL SHOT*** (Shotgun provided)
 
 You must also bring any equipment normally used by during agency call outs, including gas mask and handgun. There will be stages where the issued handgun will be used.
 
There will be a hospitality event Friday night and breakfast/lunch on Saturday for the participants, staff and vendors. The public is welcome to watch, a special viewing section will be provided. The trophies and prizes will be awarded at the end of the competition.
